About the role

As the Male Health Promotion Officer at Nindilingarri Cultural Health Services, you will play a vital role in delivering community-based health and wellbeing programs to the local population in Fitzroy Crossing, WA. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and implement culturally appropriate health promotion initiatives focused on men's health and wellbeing
  • Engage with the local community to understand their needs and tailor programs accordingly
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including health services and community organisations, to deliver integrated health promotion activities
  • Facilitate educational workshops and group sessions on topics such as chronic disease prevention, mental health, and healthy lifestyles
  • Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to community members to encourage positive health behaviours
  • Collect and analyse data to monitor the impact of health promotion activities and inform future program planning
  • Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the health service's men's health initiatives

What we're looking for

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering successful community-based health promotion programs, particularly those focused on men's health
  • Strong understanding of the social, cultural, and health issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven track record in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel within the local region
