About Us
Between the Department of Customer Service (DCS) will work in partnership with Aboriginal Affairs (AANSW) and NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (NSW CAPO) to deliver the Closing the Gap (CTG) Priority Reform Four (PR4) implementation and Aboriginal Data Sovereignty reform development work program (PR4 Program). DCS will work with all NSW Government agencies on key implementation actions on behalf of the partnership, to improve shared access to and shared decision-making regarding NSW Government-held data for Aboriginal communities.

Primary purpose of the role:
Manage the implementation of a portfolio of strategic, whole-of-government data and digital products and frameworks to achieve NSW Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4 (PR4) program commitments. The role will establish an effective product team and culture to support program delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the implementation of a portfolio of complex data and digital products across multiple NSW Government Agencies, including preparing project plans, procurement, establishing appropriate governance, identifying, allocating and managing resources, and meeting reporting requirements, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on budget and in appropriate timeframes.
- Develop and implement strategies and tools for the continuous improvement, monitoring and evaluation of projects, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, and project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues and assess project progress and overall effectiveness.
- Develop and monitor strategies for targeted improvements in external data sharing maturity across multiple NSW Government agencies to increase data accessibility for Aboriginal data requestors.
- Leverage relationships and networks to understand the needs and expectations of Aboriginal communities and organisations surfaced by Aboriginal data requestors and through NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) community engagements, and to deliver culturally informed technical foundations for the Shared Access to Data Service for Aboriginal Communities.
- Lead and manage several multi-disciplinary team/s, including internal and external project staff, to deliver all key project/s milestones and outcomes.
- Manage stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure stakeholders are engaged throughout the project and project deliverables are met in a culturally sensitive and supportive manner.
- Provide expert advice and information to stakeholders and executives on emerging project issues and present recommendations to support project delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other project priorities.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: enterprise data and technology services, data policy and reform, data governance, data engineering and warehousing, data analytics and tools, software development in a government context
- Demonstrated experience in data or technology transformational change in government at an enterprise level
- Demonstrated ability to understand issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.
- Commitment to innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in public sector reform, in particular to progress the operationalisation of Aboriginal Data Sovereignty and Governance principles in NSW.
