Package range: $108,057 - $128,149. Package includes salary ($95,630-$113,411 per annum) employer's superannuation and annual leave loading. (Salary offered will be based on experience).

About the role

We're seeking world-class educators to inspire the next generation of Robotics, Automation, and Mechatronics students by joining our team of teachers on a permanent full-time basis located at Wollongong Campus. As a teacher, you will play a key role in delivering hands-on, industry-relevant training that equips learners with the skills to thrive in an era of automation, robotics, mechatronics, and smart manufacturing.

We are looking for passionate and forward-thinking professionals with strong technical expertise in robotics, automation systems, and mechatronics—alongside Industry 4.0 technologies—and the ability to translate this knowledge into high-quality training delivery. In this role, you will design and deliver practical learning experiences, maintain and utilise advanced equipment and facilities, and ensure programs remain aligned with current and emerging industry practices. You will also contribute to curriculum development, collaborate with colleagues to modernise training approaches, and engage with industry partners to ensure relevance and innovation in program delivery.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications & Industry Expertise: Hold appropriate subject knowledge, skills, and vocational qualifications with a minimum of Advance Diploma in Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Industry Experience: Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience relevant to your industry in robotics, automation systems, mechatronics, or Industry 4.0 environments.
  • Technical Competence: Proven ability to apply and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies in robotics, automation, and mechatronics, with the capability to deliver hands-on, practice-based training.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and industry stakeholders in a dynamic learning environment.
  • Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training (see the candidate support document (here) for details ) OR a willingness to undertake our full time 14 week 'Paid to Learn' course

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • Advanced Qualifications in Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Industry 4.0 Experience, including automation, robotics, smart systems, digital twins, additive manufacturing, or data-driven manufacturing.
  • Renewable Energy & Sustainability Knowledge, particularly the integration of automation and mechatronics into clean energy and sustainable manufacturing practices.
  • Curriculum and Training Development, with experience in designing or adapting training to reflect new technologies and industry practices.
  • Digital Competence, including modernised digital applications, simulation tools, or connected learning platforms.
  • Industry Collaboration, demonstrated through partnerships, projects, or co-designed training solutions with employers or community stakeholders.

Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold an appropriate VET teaching qualification or equivalent, you have the option to be paid to learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course. Those who already hold the appropriate teaching qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
