Client

Our client is a leading creative agency partnering with a range of iconic national retail brands across Australia. They are now looking to expand their offering with a commercially minded leader in Performance Media to build out their media offering.

The Role

As Head of Performance Media, you will own the performance media strategy across paid search, paid social, programmatic, and emerging digital channels. Working closely with the strategy, creative, and client service teams, you'll champion data-driven thinking, optimise media investments, and drive innovation in how they connect brands with consumers. Together with the Managing Director you will unlock new revenue streams within their existing key clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the performance media function, ensuring world-class delivery across retail client accounts.
  • Develop and implement holistic performance media strategies across paid search, social, programmatic, and retail media networks.
  • Oversee planning, buying, optimisation, and reporting to ensure campaigns deliver against client KPIs and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with creative and strategy teams to integrate media thinking into campaign development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with platform partners (Google, Meta, TikTok, retail media networks, etc.) to unlock first-to-market opportunities.
  • Provide thought leadership on performance marketing trends, retail media innovations, and emerging technologies.
  • Drive insights through advanced analytics, ensuring clients receive actionable recommendations and measurable business outcomes.
  • Contribute to new business pitches and the growth of the agency's performance media offering.

About You

  • Proven experience (5-8+ years) in performance media within an agency or retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of retail marketing dynamics and retail media networks.
  • Deep expertise across paid search, social, programmatic, and digital retail channels.
  • Demonstrated success in leading media teams and driving measurable client growth.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate media strategies into business results.
  • Confident communicator with excellent presentation skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Passionate about innovation, data, and the evolving retail media landscape.
