The opportunity:

AIA currently has an opportunity available for a Financial Accountant to join their team in either Melbourne or Sydney. Within this role you will be responsible for performing general accounting activities to ensure the integrity, accuracy and completeness of accounting records, and compliance with accepted accounting standards, group reporting policy and statutory and regulatory requirements.

To do this successfully you will:

  • Calculate, prepare and process journals to reflect the correct month end position
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and investigate and follow up on variances
  • Contribute to a diverse range of projects
  • Ad-hoc queries requiring investigation, as raised by business
  • Establish effective relationships with stakeholders in business units, Finance and other service providers
  • Consistently demonstrate role model behaviour to drive positive cultural change, productive working relationships
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Manager, Financial Control

Successful applications will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary and CA/CPA qualification
  • Post qualification experience in the financial services or life insurance industries
  • SAP and SunSystems experience an advantage
  • Strong MS Excel skills and proficiency in all MS software
  • A commitment to excellence and accuracy
  • Strong relationship management skills to engage stakeholders and to understand their business objectives and requirements
  • Excellent people and communication skills, (both written and verbal)
  • High level organisational and planning skills
