The
Section Leader
supports the Director of Operations and provides leadership to the Australian Resources Section within the Resources, Ports, Aviation and Civil Performance Unit (PU). You will set clear direction and provide a strong role model regarding client focus and responsiveness and your strong client relationships will help to ensure we can identify and anticipate client needs. Our recruitment, retention and development programs should reflect this need. You will support your Section to be engaged, resilient and adaptable, and inspire them to strive for innovation while maintaining outstanding project delivery, responsible and proactive commercial management, and making disciplined investment decisions.

As the
Section Leader for the Resources - Engineering and Technical Delivery
, you will manage a multidisciplinary team of engineering professionals across mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls disciplines. You'll be the driving force behind our delivery excellence, ensuring we maximize our team's capabilities while consistently exceeding client expectations in the Resources sector. You will work closely with the
Section Leader for Resources – Project Delivery
to ensure exceptional delivery of projects for the Resources market which meets and exceeds client expectations across all engineering disciplines.

The primarily focus of this role is to

  • Ensure exceptional delivery standards that meet and exceed client expectations across all engineering disciplines.
  • Leverage your deep understanding of mining resources clients to build lasting relationships and anticipate their evolving needs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor across the resources sector.
  • Optimize team capabilities through strategic resource allocation, skills development, and performance management.
  • Embed and promote Jacobs' everyday respect culture, creating a workplace where diversity and inclusion flourish.
  • Lead work-winning activities and strategic initiatives to expand our resources portfolio and market share.
  • Collaborate effectively with our integrated Global Delivery Centres, ensuring a strong focus on integrated delivery to provide high value solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Lead the development of engineering strategy and win plans, working closely with sales and operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor across the resources sector
  • Provide oversight and assurance for project delivery, ensuring adherence to established standards and methodologies, including EPC and EPCM delivery methodologies
  • Lead resourcing and manage a wide range of professional disciplines and subcontractors, including GID resources
  • Promote the integration of Global Integrated Delivery (GID) for effective project delivery.
  • Maximise digital delivery efficiency.

Here's what you'll need

  • Relevant Tertiary Engineering Degree and demonstrated professional leadership experience predominantly within the Mining Resources Sector.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Robust knowledge of international and local engineering methods, applicable codes and specifications associated with resources projects.
  • Solid knowledge of planning, study, detailed design, commissioning and close out resources and and/or new energy projects, with sound knowledge of current design standards
  • Familiar with the delivery methodology including initiation, development and delivery phases, the specific requirements and levels of accuracy as well as design maturity required at each delivery gate for resources clients.
  • Experience in delivering EPC and/or EPCM projects for Engineering Services Provider held in high regard.
  • A strategic and innovative mindset coupled with the ability to solve complex problems, using strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
