About The Role
As a Senior Coordination Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting communities throughout disaster events, ensuring timely access to essential resources and services. You'll work closely with local governments, partners, and not-for-profit organisations to design and implement community-led frameworks for mitigation, adaptation, preparedness, and recovery.
Your efforts will help align grassroots initiatives with broader government strategies, fostering resilience and long-term sustainability across NSW. This role is key to strengthening disaster response and recovery through collaboration, strategic planning, and community empowerment.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading and delivering projects that enhance local government capacity to support infrastructure, utilities, and business continuity.
- Facilitating information sharing and coordinating resources to support community participation in disaster planning and recovery initiatives.
- Supporting communities through rebuilding and relocation processes, ensuring Authority programs align with local needs.
- Provide agency representation during times of disaster and recovery delivery working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Driving best practices in community engagement, staff capability development, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Engaging in broad consultations with local governments, the private sector, and relevant agencies to assess disaster response and recovery capabilities.
- Preparing reports, correspondence, and briefs to support informed decision-making within the Authority and government bodies.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in disaster management & community engagement.
- Demonstrated understanding of emergency management arrangements within NSW.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent project coordination and resource management skills.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with communities across regional and metropolitan areas for a positive outcome.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and briefs.
- Adaptability and a proactive approach to addressing community needs.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- An ability and willingness to travel within NSW and support other operational roles during disasters, emergencies and other events, consistent with skills, background and personal circumstances.
- Current unrestricted NSW drivers' licence

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier's Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.
