About the role:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager with a strong background in the
insurance sector
to lead the delivery of complex, large-scale programs across business, operations, and technology. You will be accountable for driving strategic transformation, managing multiple workstreams, and ensuring that programs deliver measurable business value while meeting compliance and regulatory obligations.

This role requires strong stakeholder management, commercial acumen, and the ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on delivery levels.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end management of large and complex programs within the insurance domain (e.g., claims, underwriting, policy administration, compliance, digital transformation).
  • Define program scope, objectives, benefits, and success metrics in alignment with business strategy.
  • Establish program governance, risk management frameworks, and reporting structures.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement with executives, business units, regulators, technology teams, and external vendors.
  • Ensure regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements are embedded into program delivery.
  • Manage program budgets, forecasts, and financial performance against business cases.
  • Coach and mentor project managers, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to build delivery capability.
  • Identify and manage interdependencies across portfolios, escalating issues and risks proactively.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, agile ways of working, and customer-centric outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in program/project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven background in insurance, financial services, or related regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale, multi-million-dollar transformation programs (business, operational, and technology).
  • Strong knowledge of insurance products, processes, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., APRA, ASIC).
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at C-suite level.
  • Strong financial management, business case development, and vendor management skills.
  • Experience in Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Business, Finance, IT, Risk) and/or industry certifications (e.g., PMP, MSP, SAFe, PRINCE2).
