Job Role: Bartender  

Department: Food & Beverage Department

Reports to: Duty Manager and Supervisor

Primary Objectives:

Preparing alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for bar and patrons. Interacting with customers, taking orders and serving drinks. Assessing bar customers' needs and preferences and making recommendations

Responsibilities:

  • To report for duty on time and in the correct uniform
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming
  • You are responsible for the efficient dispensing and servicing of drinks
  • Interact and assess customers' needs and preferences, make recommendations and ensure that the guests' needs, and requirements are met
  • Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
  • Check customers' identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
  • To ensure that the bar area is kept clean at all times and observe all hygiene regulations
  • Ensure the accuracy of all cash and card transactions
  • To carry out any other duties as may be notified to you by management
  • To communicate our services and facilities to guests as required
  • To deal with any customer complaints in a professional manner and to notify management of these
  • To ensure that all reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of yourself, other employees, guests and other persons on the premises
  • To observe all safety procedures and rules
  • To report and where possible take action on incidents of accidents or damage
  • To attend all training courses as notified to you by management
  • To ensure that all emergency evacuation doors and routes are kept clear at all times
  • To be aware and comply with hotel policy regarding: Fire, Health & Safety, Hygiene, Food Hygiene and Customer Care & Security
  • To read, understand and comply with your responsibilities as defined in the Staff Handbook.

Daily Tasks

  • Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Record any wastage you have before clocking off shift
  • Report all RSA concerns to your Duty Manager
  • Check specials and upsell products

Weekly Tasks

  • Check all use by dates on stock within bars and transfer fridge
  • Deep clean shelves and stainless steel in bars
  • Clean out fridges
  • Top up batched cocktails
  • Tidy coffee machine area
  • Scrub the glass station area

Fortnightly Tasks

  • Scrub all beer taps & clean decals
  • Clean out post mix guns
  • Soaking of all water bottles

Monthly Tasks

  • Pressure clean bar mats
  • Scrub out transfer fridge

Other Relevant Duties:

  • Regular staff training in the areas of service skills and product knowledge, incorporating RSA to ensure exceptional service.
  • Comply and abide by all Hotel policies, initiatives and procedures.
  • Abide by all Workplace Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations.
  • Adhere to the guidelines set out in the Samphire Rottnest & Hotel Rottnest Employee Handbook.
  • Keep updated on product knowledge of Hotel and related activities.
  • Maintain excellent grooming and hygiene standards.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as directed by the General Manager
