Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of customer service by greeting students and parents and engaging in open and friendly conversation, showing a genuine interest and concern in student safety, needs and goals.
• Be familiar with services offered at the pool (LTS only).
• Share the responsibility for monitoring and maintaining a safe environment and equipment.
• Maintain a high standard of behaviour and participation in sessions in order to achieve desired outcomes.
• Handle low-level discipline matters, referring repeated or serious misbehaviour to the supervising teacher or coordinator.
• Deliver safe and enjoyable individual and group swim training as per instructions from Pool Manager or Swim Instructor in accordance with the program or curriculum.
• Conduct all sessions / activities as scheduled (be ready in the water before the students arrive for their lesson), ensuring commencement and conclusion of sessions is appropriate and reasonable.
• Only exit the pool after the students in your group.
• Feedback student progress to Aquatic Centre Manager and assist in the written assessment of students if required.
• In consultation with the Aquatic Centre Manager contribute to the regular review of the program/s, with a view to updating strategies and practice, ensuring that consistent practice / instruction is given by all instructors.

• Be diligent and prompt in reporting any issues (particularly WH&S) within the pool environment and support and operate under College policies, Workplace Health & Safety requirements, College swim guidelines and Austswim requirements (refer ).

• Learn to Swim Instructors must hold or be studying towards their Austswim or Swim Australia qualification or hold an equivalent qualification.

• Current first aid and CPR certificates
• Prior experience in instructing / coaching children of all ages is preferable.
• All Emmanuel College non-teaching staff must hold a paid Blue Card prior to commencement.
