About the role:
The Cultural Heritage Officer (CHO) leads the design and delivery of cultural programs and community engagement activities supporting Tuvaluan visa holders under the Falepili Mobility Pathway. This position ensures cultural continuity, supports positive settlement outcomes, and supervises Liaison Officers, embedding culturally safe and responsive practice across service delivery. The CHO acts as a key liaison between AMES Australia, Tuvaluan communities, and government stakeholders, driving culturally informed approaches that strengthen identity, inclusion, and community participation.
To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:
- Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field, OR equivalent skills and experience gained through community leadership or settlement work;
AND minimum three (3) years' experience working in community services, settlement, or multicultural programs supporting Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities;
AND Bicultural background with fluency in Tuvaluan and English - Proven ability to develop and deliver programs and services aligned with budgets, KPIs, and operational plans
- Extensive knowledge of refugee, humanitarian, and settlement issues, including relevant Commonwealth and State social policy frameworks
- Strong understanding of contracts, funding agreements, and quality assurance requirements, with the ability to ensure full compliance and achievement of performance outcomes
- Demonstrated leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams and fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the capacity to build and manage relationships with funding bodies, service partners, and community organisations
- Highly developed communication and advocacy skills, including cross-cultural competence, report writing, and the ability to influence service system responses
- Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and client-centred, evidence-based service delivery
