  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight

Your new role

Are you passionate about leading safety improvement initiatives? In this role, you'll ensure safety system compliance across Council and provide expert advice to a diverse workforce.

With your strong knowledge of safety management systems, relevant qualifications, and experience in workplace health and safety, you'll play a key role in ensuring a safe working environment.

This position allows you to apply your skills to keep the workforce safe, championing the "Safety First" approach to ensure everyone returns home safely each night.

You'll manage a varied portfolio, performing tasks such as worksite inspections, hazard identification, incident investigation, safety training, document development, and implementing safety programs.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret information and develop practical, effective solutions.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, with the ability to contribute to the enhancement of Council's Safety Management System.

Application Criteria

  • Possesses 3-5 years of experience in workplace health and safety roles, ideally within high-risk industries and hold a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and industry best practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge to enhance and maintain safety management systems.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain WHS documentation, create and deliver training materials, implement safety programs, and produce clear, detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Extensive experience in conducting safety investigations, using the ICAM methodology, developing practical and effective recommendations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to a proactive and positive safety culture.
