We are seeking a Policy Advisor to provide strategic policy advice on a range of people-related topics and support the implementation of policy positions and legislative requirements in HR policies and procedures. This is a full-time, ongoing position (part-time will be considered) within our People & Culture division. While WFH/hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster headquarters in line with our hybrid working model.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Policy and Research Manager, the successful applicant will play a key role in supporting people policy as a driver of a safe, fair and inclusive AV. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provide high quality, evidence-informed briefings, reports and policy advice to support the People & Culture Division and related programs of work
- Perform a range of policy development activities including technical research and analysis to adapt quickly to organisational changes
- Work with subject matter experts to draft content for policies and procedures, identify gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement and drive positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Provide policy support and advice to a range of stakeholders and committees, having a sound understanding of AV's roles and functions, contemporary policy design and the wider reform agenda for a safe, fair and inclusive workplace
About you
The successful applicant will have completion of a degree or relevant industry certification with proven relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and sound experience. Other requirements include but not limited to:
- Demonstrated experience in policy research, analysis and making evidence-informed recommendations to support the development of policies and programs
- Experience within a large, complex organisation or government department (desirable)
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a range of formats suitable for diverse audiences
- Strong co-ordination skills to support input on documents from multiple stakeholders and to meet specified timelines (experience with coordinating reviews of policies and procedures is desirable)
- Strong analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
