Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).

We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.

SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.

Suburban Connect is constructing the 16kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated

Purpose of the role:

The aim of this role is to objectively assess, report on and manage quality, and to contribute to the Quality management team to enhance design, construction and commercial outcomes.

QAs have direct line reporting to the Quality & Systems Manager with the expectation of building a relationship with the Project Governance and Compliance Team, Nominated Authority.

  • Specific quality duties in discrete work areas.
  • Day-to-day coordination on quality-related aspects for all Portal elements.
  • The inspection surveillance of off-site vendors and the coordination of third-party inspection services.
  • Preparation of Quality Management System documentation such as procedures, check lists and inspection & test plans for the allocated products.
  • Leading and driving the raising & close out process of Non-Conformance Reporting to ensure key KPI's are met and satisfy industry specifications and client contract.
  • Close out of Construction Issues.

Further responsibilities.

  • Assisting the Quality Manager with the creation of ITP's (standardise where applicable).
  • Checklists and QA related documentation including but not limited to ITP's, quality control checklists.
  • Work Instructions / Procedures.
  • Lot tracking registers and NCR Register.
  • Quality alerts, quality facts, right first-time measurements and reporting, uploading documents into project required Aconex system, Team Binder system.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Diploma in Engineering, Quality Management or Project Management.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in Quality Management in the construction industry preferred.
  • Strong personal organisation skills.
  • Time management skills in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Flexible, able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Positively participates in all team interactions / activities in accordance with Project Values.
  • Delivers a strong positive message on site for Safety & Quality.
  • Right first-time approach / mentality.
