The Greater Sydney Area Command has Mitigation Crews located in Albion Park, Cowan, Heathcote, Mittagong, Katoomba, Regentville, Wilberforce, Picton and Bargo. Mitigation Crew Member and Crew Leader recruitment (talent) pools will be created to fill future opportunities within the crews over the next 18 months.

This opportunity offers:

• Full-time ongoing employment & 35 hour working week
• Attractive annual salary:
  • Mitigation Crew Member: $65,732 - $70,622 p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation
  • Mitigation Crew Leader: $74,514 - $81,005 p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation
• Mandatory paid induction program upon commencement (may be required to travel and stay at the training facility during specific periods)

What you'll be doing:

We are looking for motivated and community-minded individuals who have a passion for emergency services and enjoy working in an outdoor-based physical role. By joining our Mitigation Crews, you will have the opportunity to reduce the risk of fires occurring within your community. Additionally, you will assist with the AIDER Program, hazard reduction activities, and support operations during periods of major operational activity.

Role Information Sessions:

We will be holding Information Sessions about these roles at the following locations:

Cumberland Fire Control Centre: 8-12 Jeanette Street, Regentville

• Saturday 31 May 2025 at 1:00 - 3:00PM

Albion Park Fire Control Centre: 37 Airport Road, Albion Park Rail

• Sunday 1 June 2025 at 12:00 - 2:00PM

What you'll need to join our crews:

Mitigation Crew Member:

• RFS Bush Firefighter (BF) qualification or its equivalent
• A current Driver Licence (Provisional P1 or above)
• A level of physical fitness appropriate for arduous bush firefighting or similar intense and sustained physical activity
• First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain*

Mitigation Crew Leader:

• RFS Crew Leader (CLW and/or CLS) Certification or its equivalent
• A current Class Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence
• A level of physical fitness appropriate for arduous bush firefighting or similar intense and sustained physical activity
• First Aid Certificate, or the willingness to obtain*

The commencing salary will be considered in alignment with skills and experience.

Note: As per the role description, candidates are required to meet minimum essential requirements. If you do not meet the essential requirements for this role, your application may not progress to shortlisting.
