Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Food Technologist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in driving product development, ensuring quality assurance, and maintaining compliance with food safety standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop new products, improve existing ones, and ensure our offerings meet both customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead the development of new food products from concept to commercialisation.

  • Collaborate with culinary teams to create recipes that align with market trends and customer preferences.

  • Conduct sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies to ensure product quality and stability.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all products comply with FSANZ standards, customer specifications, and relevant legislation.

  • Develop and maintain accurate product specifications, including ingredients, allergens, nutritional information, and labeling data.

  • Assist in the preparation and review of food labels in line with Australian labeling regulations and GS1 barcode requirements.

Process Improvement

  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing teams to optimize formulations, reduce waste, and improve efficiency without compromising quality.

  • Support equipment commissioning and evaluate process impacts on product quality.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of trials, formulations, specifications, and regulatory documentation.

  • Provide technical input for customer presentations, internal product reviews, and production readiness assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably in chilled or ready-to-eat meals.

  • Strong understanding of food safety systems (HACCP, GMP), Australian food regulations, and retailer requirements.

  • Experience with specification systems (e.g., GS1, ProductVision, or customer portals).
