Why this Role?

The Department of Education (DoE) is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join the MyHR Business Information and Support Unit (BISU), located in Brisbane. This role is key in understanding how our people work; exploring business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and translating them into practical, well-designed solutions that support one of Queensland's largest public sector workforces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead investigative work to analyse, document, and recommend improvements to business processes, practices and HR/payroll systems to support organisational change
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver initiatives that enhance HR business processes and service delivery
  • Engage with stakeholders through workshops, consultations and research to define and validate business and system requirements
  • Facilitate agreement on project scope and priorities, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions
  • Provide expert advice and functional support on HR and payroll systems, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improved user experience
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively with business and technical stakeholders to manage expectations in a resource-constrained environment

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Strong background in business analysis within HR/payroll system environments
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver system solutions that improve business outcomes
  • Experience leading or facilitating stakeholder engagement and consultation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a consultative and strategic mindset
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a resource-constrained environment

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of Queensland Government systems and processes
  • Familiarity with SAP (especially SAP SuccessFactors or related HR modules) which will assist in our transition to a new human capital management system
