Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Protection Technician will oversee the maintenance and commissioning of protection, automation & control equipment within distribution, zone and sub-transmission substations and networks. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, reliability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of our services for customers and the integrity of our network assets.

To be successful, you must have:
- Qualification in a relevant electrical trade (Cert III Electrotechnology or equivalent).
- A Class C drivers' licence.
- A WH&S Work Cover – General Induction.
- Experience in analysing electrical drawings (schematic diagrams is desirable).
- Sound computer skills for both office-based & industry-specific programs for testing, commissioning & interrogation of network assets.
Skills & Qualifications (Not essential but advantageous):
- Experience in fault finding & problem solving.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including control systems, instrumentation and automation equipment. (PLC, instrumentation, SCADA or other operating systems).
- Cert III, Cert IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in relevant discipline (Power Systems, Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation etc).
- Proven experience in HV (High Voltage) Switching.
- Experience with Permit to Work systems.
- Demonstrated experience with a computerised maintenance management system.
