About the business:

We provide professional trade services to the Energy, Marine, Mining and Defence sectors covering all Building, Plumbing, Roofing, Electrical & HVAC service types.

We service Cairns, Innisfail and the Atherton Tablelands, including all surrounding suburbs and communities.

We employ 25 to 30 staff, including Carpenters, Electricians, Refrigeration Mechanics, Plumbers, Roof Plumbers and Administrative professionals.

Our business premises is located in Portsmith, Cairns, QLD.

Position advertised:

We are looking for a permanent full-time Office Administrator to join our Cairns based team.

The applicant should consider themselves organised and reliable, an individual with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

A certificate III in Business Administration is favourable but not mandatory.

Experience:

We are looking for a candidate that has prior experience in an office environment, preferably in the building and construction industry.

You must be well presented and well spoken with good phone manner and a polite etiquette.

Standard work hours:

  • 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

  • 6-monthly performance & wage reviews.
  • Paid weekly on a Thursday.

Tasks & responsibilities:

Some tasks & responsibilities that may be associated with the advertised position are detailed below, more specifically defined tasks will be communicated during the interview stage.

  • Liaise with clients using necessary forms of communication including in-person, phone, email, or text as required to fulfil the needs of the client.
  • Provide receptionist duties at the business premises by way of greeting, attending-to and directing visitors.
  • Answer inbound phone calls and liaise with clients in regard to work schedules and other matters of business.
  • Accurately complete the entry of data into the company's job management system.
  • Manage the stock levels of office supplies and place orders.
  • Complete document preparation including printing, photocopying, binding, and laminating.
  • Provide supervision to Administrative Assistants.

  • Provide administrative support to the Accounts Administrator, Operation Managers, and General Manager.

  • Always maintain a clean appearance whilst at work, including a well pressed work uniform with a tucked-in shirt & belt.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits & proper care of company equipment.
