Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Talent Butler Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Talent Butler is placing confidence in an extraordinarily successful Australian-owned retail business that operates a growing number of stores on the East Coast of Australia and now into international markets. With a growing property portfolio, an opportunity has been created for an influential Senior Retail Construction Project Manager to join a lean, high-performing team in Melbourne as one of three people who cover the state of VIC, reporting to the state head of construction. You will oversee major fit-outs and new build works for their owned and leased property.

The Business

The business has a leasehold and freehold portfolio which vary in size from 600 sqm to 3000 sqm on the East Coast of Australia, the vast majority being NSW, QLD and Victoria. The company has placed increased emphasis on improved customer experience outcomes with exceptional stores. The purpose of this role is to optimise the brand position with exceptional, high-quality projects in great locations.

The Role

Reporting to the State Construction Manager; this opportunity would suit someone who has had around five to 10+ years of project delivery experience with a significant majority of exposure to commercial, retail, or hospitality industries.

As the role will see you working in matters of development, it would be highly advantageous if you hold tertiary education within property and construction and be capable of lodging DA's, and dealing with local planning, architects, and consultants.

You will enjoy taking ownership of the Project Management process from start to finish, sometimes in a live operating environment which will play a key part in this role moving forward. Assisted by a wider head-office team, the position does not require any staff management but will be both rewarding but also busy. You will be managing several projects simultaneously, so having good time-management experience is essential, as well as a disciplined approach to OH&S, strategy, and reporting. It would be beneficial if you have had experience with "Smartsheets" or simialr project tracking tools, but not essential.

Key Requirements

  • Owing to the responsibilities of this role, it would help if you have a trade background to keep builders in line with expectations and know-how projects come together from a practical perspective.
  • You will work with passion and enthusiasm towards clearly defined goals and collaborate with the wider business units for broader business outcomes.
  • With culture and values a key driver, you will be an effective communicator both professional with high levels of emotional intelligence.
  • You will review ongoing business activities to think multiple steps ahead and present opportunities that enhance commercial opportunities.
  • Having strong attention to detail and a focus on task management will help ensure success.
  • Dealing with DAs, utility connections, architects, and external consultants for project development
  • The ability to work autonomously and be a self-starter.

Your New Opportunity

This is an immediate opportunity that is a key priority for us and the business we represent. You will gain great property projects and development experience with a team of credible property specialists. This business attracts and retains the best available talent through continued growth opportunities so your passion for innovation and process improvement will be advantageous.
