Position Purpose

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of Bugs for Bugs. This role leads a range of internal business functions and coordinates closely with service providers and partner companies to drive sales growth, operational excellence, and strategic outcomes aligned with the annual plan and five-year strategy.

In addition, the General Manager will work closely with colleagues at Biobest, sharing the mission to achieve the 2025 – 2030 Joint Strategic Plan.

Summary of Key Responsibilities1. Business Operations & Service Providers

• Provide overall leadership for core business functions including Sales, Operations, and Administration.

• Manage relationships with key service providers including IT, Marketing, and Human Resources to ensure service delivery aligns with business needs.

• Quality Assurance & Control

• Oversee the Quality Assurance and Control initiatives in production, working closely with the relevant production team and site managers to ensure Bugs for Bugs products are reared in accordance with specified guidelines and standards.

• Monitor compliance, implement improvements, and report on QA outcomes to senior leadership.

• Site Management & Maintenance

• Oversee site management and maintenance at all Bugs for Bugs locations to ensure operations comply with legislative and regulatory guidelines and provide a safe working environment for staff and visitors.

• Work with site managers to ensure appropriate health and safety systems and processes are in place.
• Ensure general maintenance (lawns, gardens, equipment, and facilities) is carried out as directed and items remain in good working order.

• Monitor and report on site safety, maintenance schedules, and compliance status.

• Sales Coordination & Forecasting

• Liaise closely with parent company, Biobest, to coordinate joint sales campaigns and initiatives.

• Work with the Bugs for Bugs management team, sales team and Biobest to develop accurate sales forecasts, production schedules, and resourcing plans to meet demand.

• Ensure appropriate sales strategies, including customer acquisition and retention plans, are in place to support strategic growth plans.

• Financial Oversight & Budgeting

• Work with the Bugs for Bugs management team and Biobest to assist with annual budget preparation and oversight of expenditure.

• Undertake other general financial management tasks typically overseen by a General Manager, ensuring sound financial stewardship across the business.

• Strategic & Financial Alignment

• Support the management teams at Bugs for Bugs and Biobest to deliver on the annual plan and five-year strategic objectives.

• Contribute to the development and execution of company-wide initiatives to improve efficiency, profitability, and market presence.

• Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Provide effective leadership, coaching, and support to the Bugs for Bugs management team to achieve performance targets and business outcomes.

• Ensure open and constructive communication between Bugs for Bugs and Biobest to maintain strong alignment and collaboration.

Key Selection Criteria

1. Proven leadership experience in a senior management role, ideally within agribusiness, biological products, or related industries.

2. Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial oversight, sales forecasting, production planning, and resource allocation.

3. Knowledge of or experience in implementing quality assurance systems (in a production environment) and workplace safety standards.

4. Experience in site management and maintenance / compliance requirements (ie Health and Safety systems) and general facilities upkeep.

5. Ability to manage multiple functions and external service providers across IT, marketing, and HR.

6. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across sister and parent companies.

7. Strategic mindset with a track record of delivering on annual and long-term business plans.

8. Tertiary qualifications in business management, finance, agriculture, or a related field (desirable).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
