The Principal Advisory Director – CIO Advisory creates and delivers client-driven, project-based, practical research and advisory that helps IT leaders drive measurable results in their organizations. This role oversees CIO practice research projects and advisory operations in the domains of Compliance, Risk & Governance, IT Financial Management, Organizational Design, Operating Models, and Modernization.
The Principal Advisory Director will be actively engaged in delivering measurable value to Info-Tech Research Group's members by utilizing our IT Best Practice methodologies. You will also maintain a strong pulse on member needs and industry trends, deliver exceptional service through calls and 1-week workshops, collaborate across departments, and ensure delivery of high-quality CIO research and solution

Key Responsibilities
Advisory Calls with Clients
- Lead calls with members to provide an overview of Info-Tech's published research.
- Understand member challenges and recommend how research can help them meet strategic mandates.
- Scope member concerns, direct them to relevant research, and identify research gaps.
Facilitate Workshops
- Scope workshop efforts with clients in advance.
- Lead the delivery of four-day workshops, online or onsite, based on Info-Tech's Best Practice Methodology Blueprints.
- Work with client cross-functional teams to define the scope and outcomes of their IT initiatives / projects, perform capability maturity assessments and gap analyses, and identify member improvement opportunities/recommendations.
- Collect outputs, compile polished deliverables, and identify follow-up advisory needs.
Research
- Conduct expert interviews and literature reviews to generate insights.
- Develop frameworks, methodologies, tools, and resources for members.
- Track industry developments, trends, and best practices to shape the research agenda.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Support
- Contribute to research teams by identifying trends and proposing topics.
- Provide subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, PR).
- Design and deliver high-quality presentations and keynotes as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate degree required (business or technology preferred).
- Advanced degree (Engineering, MA, MBA, MSc) beneficial.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Service Management, Organizational Design, Risk & Governance).
- 10+ years practical experience in one or more of the following:
- IT Financial Management / IT Budgeting
- Operating Model & Organizational Design
- Risk, Governance, & Compliance
- Modernization & Transformation
- Service Management & Strategy
- Proven experience leading organizational change or transformation.
- Strong facilitation and presentation background through workshops, training, or consulting. Consulting roles within large organizations is a definite advantage
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and achieve trusted advisor status with senior leaders and C-level executives.
- Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies, how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business, and how they may be applied to the enterprise to drive digital business
