Tired of the bureaucracy and politics of big firms, but still want to work on high-quality transactions?

Looking to join a diverse, collaborative team that values enthusiasm, hard work - and having fun along the way?

The Role

We're on the lookout for a Senior Associate to join our rapidly growing, national Finance practice, led by Zina Edwards. Zina is an experienced finance and restructuring lawyer with a strong focus on Australia's fast-growing alternative lending market.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead and advise on complex, high-value transactions involving onshore and offshore credit funds, asset managers, and other non-bank lenders. Matters will span structured finance and hybrid transactions, venture debt and growth finance, restructuring, and special situations.

You'll play a key role in mentoring junior lawyers, helping shape the strategic direction of the practice, and contributing to client relationship management and business development initiatives.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Currently practising as a Senior Associate (or ready to step into that role) in a Banking & Finance practice
  • Genuinely passionate about complex problem-solving and thinking commercially and creatively
  • Eager to play a visible role in the firm's growth and business development
  • Looking for a supportive, high-performing team culture that values collaboration & diversity.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative, with the confidence to help build and lead.

The firm

Hamilton Locke is an international law firm evolving the traditional approach to corporate and commercial legal services. We are constantly removing the layers of bureaucracy, reacting quickly to change, providing exceptional service, and finding creative solutions to deliver smart advice.

A law firm with a difference, we are evolving the traditional business model. We have built a high-growth, people-centric business that maximises our 'people experience' (PX) and believe this delivers the best 'client experience' (CX). We foster a vibrant culture, putting our people at the forefront of everything we do.

Put simply, we have created a work environment based on respect, trust, development, collaboration and innovation. This allows our people to grow and be the best version of themselves. In turn, this enables our people to do their best work, which ultimately makes our clients happy. This is a win-win-win.

We put our people's experience at the centre of everything we do.

We are more than just a law firm.

What's in it for you

  • Be mentored in a supportive environment, with access to quality work, great clients and professional development opportunities.
  • A fun, collaborative and high-performing team environment with regular social events, training days and team retreats.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • A clear and transparent performance bonus scheme.
  • An extra week's leave, as part of our employee personal development program.
  • A day birthday leave.
  • Support in building client relationships.

We prefer to work directly with candidates, if you are interested in this role, contact the consultant, details below, for more information.
