Senior Database Tester (Permanent | Sydney only | Full Work rights Required)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Tester to join our client's technology team in Sydney. This permanent, onsite role requires full Australian work rights and offers the opportunity to contribute to high-visibility transformation initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of complex database systems by performing advanced SQL-driven testing, validating large datasets, and supporting end-to-end and integration testing efforts across enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate actively with developers and business stakeholders in an Agile environment to clarify requirements, focusing on testability, consistency, and completeness.
• Create comprehensive test plans and define clear test approaches.
• Plan, prioritize, and execute both functional and non-functional testing based on requirements.
• Perform end-to-end testing, system integration testing, and API/Microservice testing using tools like Postman and SoapUI.
• Conduct manual test execution with a strong focus on quality assurance.
• Engage in defect management activities, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Understand and analyze business requirements and technical specifications.
• Work with enterprise-level test management tools such as HP QC, PractiTest, and JIRA.
• Perform web application testing and database testing using SQL and Oracle.
• Utilize automation testing tools and contribute to the automation strategy.
• Strong expertise in SQL scripting and database testing
• Demonstrated proficiency in SQL with relational database management systems (preferably Oracle and SQL Server), including experience creating test data for large datasets using joins, averages, CASE statements, and aggregate functions for comprehensive database validation. Able to demonstrate during the interview
• Extensive API automation skills, able to demonstrate how automation was carried out using frameworks

• Solid understanding of testing fundamentals, with the ability to write complex SQL queries to validate data integrity and accuracy
• Knowledge of Settlements and Prudentials is highly regarded.
• Provide clear and effective communication, both written and verbal, across teams.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in software testing.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in end-to-end testing, database/ETL testing, integration testing, and API/Microservice testing.
• Strong experience in manual testing and test execution.
• Good experience with database testing (Oracle or SQL) and API testing (Postman).
• Proficient in test processes, concepts, and methodologies.
• Knowledge of web application testing.
• Experience in automation testing is desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Experience in Retail or NEM domains is highly desirable.
• Testing certification (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
