ASC is Australia's submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy's Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats' service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia's history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia's national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. Join us in a pivotal role as we establish the Australian Shipbuilder, a joint venture between ASC and BAE, which will eventually construct Australia's SSN-AUKUS submarines. As the Information Management Officer, you will collaborate with the business to achieve company objectives in a compliant manner. Your focus will be on developing and managing strategies and processes to identify and mitigate risks associated with information sharing while supporting development of a strong framework.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with data and information management regulations aligning with security controls, Intellectual Property, Technology Controls and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure governing compliance while providing expert advice on best practices
  • Undertake the direction of the Information Mobilisation Manager to develop, deliver, educate and maintain Information and Knowledge Management systems and frameworks
  • Operate in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated environment, balancing structure, discipline, and flexibility to meet strategic needs.
  • Ensure effective management of information and data management systems and processes by maintaining a robust, efficient and continuously reviewed framework while upholding data integrity and compliance standards.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or discipline is desirable but not mandatory
  • Eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1) and full access to all Intellectual Property and Controlled Technology held by ASC is required
  • Minimum of 3 year's experience in managing information, records management, export control, security, project management, or a similar role involving risk/compliance obligations, ideally within a Defence industry organisation
  • Excellent verbal communication and written language skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and responsiveness
  • Experience in information management, including data governance, security, and compliance

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.

To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.
