Opera Australia is the largest and busiest performing arts organisation in Australia, with over 800 opera performances a year, including opera seasons in Sydney and Melbourne, Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, musical theatre, opera concerts and a range of other activities. The Company manages the Opera Australia Orchestra and also works in partnership with Orchestra Victoria. The Company works with leading directors and designers, and employs a large number of highly skilled people in the areas of scenic construction and painting, wardrobe and wig-making, stage production, and management and administration. Overall, the Company plays a vital role in developing and sustaining a specialist skills base in this unique area of the performing arts.

About the Role
Opera Australia is seeking an experienced and strategic FP&A Manager to lead financial planning, forecasting, and analysis across the organisation. This key leadership role provides timely insights and projections to support OA's sustainability and strategic goals.
Working closely with the Senior Finance Manager, Acting Finance Director, and Heads of Department, you'll oversee budgeting, treasury management, and management reporting while mentoring a small finance team. This is an opportunity to shape the financial direction of one of Australia's most iconic performing arts companies.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Opera Australia's end-to-end FP&A function, including budgeting and reforecasting
• Partner with senior leaders and producers to align financial plans with strategic objectives
• Monitor performance, analyse variances, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Deliver accurate cashflow and treasury projections with the Senior Finance Manager
• Uphold strong internal controls and financial governance
• Manage key stakeholder relationships across the organisation
• Lead, coach, and develop finance team members
About You
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or CA qualification (or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Finance, with at least 2 in FP&A or management reporting
• Strong leadership, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
• Advanced Excel skills; Sun Systems experience highly regarded
• Proven ability to deliver accurate reporting under tight deadlines
• Commitment to continuous improvement and efficiency
• Experience in the arts, not-for-profit, or cultural sector highly regarded
