Are you an experienced IT professional who enjoys solving problems and enabling others through technology? Join the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health as an IT Support Officer, where you'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting essential computing and audio-visual technologies that help deliver world-class education and health outcomes in rural communities.
The Role
In this hands-on and service-focused role, you will:
- Manage and support staff computing technologies (workstations, mobile devices, software applications).
- Provide prompt, friendly technical support and training to staff and students across multiple rural locations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot audio-visual technologies in teaching and meeting spaces.
- Resolve complex software incidents (including StarRez accommodation system) and implement programming updates in consultation with users and vendors.
- Deliver onboarding and training sessions and develop user guides and support materials.
- Support local IT and AV projects, contributing to process improvement and documentation.
- Uphold University IT standards, policies, and cyber security requirements.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience in IT support, particularly with Microsoft technologies and user-facing systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for delivering quality service.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and contribute to team projects.
This continuing position is full time at a HEW 5 Higher Education Level located at Tamworth.

About the Unit
The University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UONDRH) delivers a number of programs aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of regional, rural and Indigenous communities within the New England, North West Slopes and Plains and areas of the Hunter Valley and New England Rivers regions. Through a variety of programs, the UONDRH has made it possible for undergraduate and postgraduate students studying medicine, nursing and allied health disciplines at the University of Newcastle to complete a large part of their education and training in a rural setting at one of 7 locations – Tamworth, Armidale, Taree, Moree, Inverell, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.
