Systems Engineer and Robotics Specialist

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Systems Engineer and Robotics Specialist in Canberra to work on Land Network Integration Centre.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Provide technical oversight for the development and maintenance of digital design models and standards for Army's Land Combat System.
• Conduct technical review and approval of engineering designs, documentation, investigation, and trial reports.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of digital baselines and standards, including the GxA DEF(AUST) and GRASA standards for military land platforms and uncrewed systems.
• Lead or support the integration of automation and AI into digital modelling processes.
• Oversee engineering process alignment and governance within the Design Team, ensuring compliance with Army and CASG engineering policies.
• Support CASG-led digital engineering initiatives and showcase LNIC's model-based systems engineering (MBSE) capabilities.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience working in Land Comat or Defence Systems.
• Strong engineering experience in a hands-on role as well as ability to consult and lead projects.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and stakeholder management.
• Previous experience in Digital Modelling or Automation design.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum
Negative Vetting 1
or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
