This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time, Casual appointment with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
Position Profile:
The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Perth Children's Hospital (PCH) is a key member of a multidisciplinary team, providing general patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). Located within the Surgical Services directorate, this role supports the delivery of coordinated and family-centred care. As an AIN, you will perform duties in accordance with the AIN Scope of Practice, assisting with a range of patient care tasks and contributing to a safe work environment by following all hospital policies and procedures.
To be employed as an Assistant in Nursing at CAHS:
There are two AIN pre-requisite pathways to facilitate employment:
- Non-Student Pathway: Successful completion and possession of a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance - Acute Care.
Student Pathway: Evidence of successful completion with academic good standing of a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved program of study for either:
Semester 1 to 3 (50% completion) of Bachelor of Nursing program.
- Semester 1 to 4 (50% completion) of dual Bachelor of Science (Nursing) / Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) program.

- To be considered for this position, you must be employable as an AIN under the WA Health Assistant in Nursing Policy via either the AIN (student) or AIN (non-student) pre-requisite pathway. Which of these pathways do you meet? (Related to Essential Criteria 1)
- Can you describe a time when you had to assist with a patient's daily care needs, such as mobility or toileting? How did you ensure the patient's dignity was maintained and that you were working within your scope of practice, under the guidance of an RN? (Related to Essential Criteria 3)
- The role requires adherence to strict safety protocols, such as infection control and safe manual handling. Can you provide an example of how you've applied these principles in a previous role to maintain a safe environment for both yourself and others? (Related to Essential Criteria 4)
- A current resume which summarises your experience and includes both phone and email contact details of two professional referees, with at least one being a recent supervisor/line manager.
- Evidence of possession of a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance - Acute Care, or evidence of successful completion with academic good standing of a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved program of study (example: a letter from your university stating the require completion.)
