The Surgical Fellow will be involved in all aspects of clinical care of Hepato Pancreato Biliary (HPB) and Bariatric patients of the Gold Coast Health Service.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Fellow (Hepato Pancreato Biliary and Bariatric General Surgery) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide clinical management including acute admissions, in-patient care, out-patients clinical, inter-disciplinary consultant and clinical handover
  • Advocate for the patient which includes protecting the patient, being the patient's voice, provision of quality care and interpersonal relationship as well as educating the patient
  • Work within and support the multi-disciplinary clinical team
  • Participate in the supervision, training and professional development of Junior medical staff

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Hold a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in general surgery (or equivalent overseas qualification)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Available after hours in accordance with the consultant's after-hours roster
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary part time (64 hours per fortnight, up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $ $91.84 per hour

The Hepato Pancreato Biliary (HPB) and Bariatric General Surgery Fellow is a Royal Australian College of Surgeons Accredited Fellowship for advanced surgical trainees with the aim of gaining further experience in HPB and Bariatric Surgery at Gold Coast University Hospital. This role includes opportunities to work across a wide variety of complex bariatric but also benign and malignant HPB cases.
