About The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Superintendent Drill & Blast to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Drill & Blast team, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory regulations, company policies, and procedures. You will be responsible for driving team performance, maintaining high safety standards, and delivering production targets in accordance with mine plans, budgets, and forecasts.

Please note, this is a residential site-based position.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all drill and blast activities to ensure safe, efficient overburden and coal extraction aligned with mine plans.
  • Design and implement drill and blast strategies that optimise fragmentation, productivity, and compliance with production and budget targets.
  • Oversee daily operations, proactively addressing issues while ensuring strict adherence to legislative, environmental, and company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost optimisation by managing contractor performance, controlling departmental budgets, and identifying efficiency gains.
  • Lead, mentor, and allocate resources across the Drill & Blast team to deliver operational excellence and support a strong safety and performance culture.

What You'll Bring:

  • A Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or related discipline, or extensive industry experience in a similar role.
  • OCE ticket or Shot Firer's certificate (desirable).
  • NSW Unsupervised Handling Licence (UHL) or ability to obtain.
  • An inspirational leader with prior experience in a similar role, preferably in an open-cut coal mining environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years mining experience including supervision of drill and blast, planning and scheduling, contract supervision and administration.
