Your New Company
This federal government agency plays a pivotal role in shaping national policy and operational frameworks across a critical public sector domain. With a strong reputation for evidence-based decision-making and sector-wide influence, the agency is embarking on a transformative journey guided by a newly launched Strategic Plan. This plan sets a bold vision for the next five years, focusing on innovation, alignment, and measurable impact. The agency is seeking a skilled Project Manager at the EL1 level to lead this strategic initiative and embed new processes into business-as-usual operations.
You'll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking team that values strategic insight, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to high-impact work that directly influences national outcomes.
Your New Role

- Leading the implementation of the Strategic Plan across all branches, ensuring alignment with agency-wide goals and timelines.
- Conducting a comprehensive gap analysis of current planning and reporting processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Facilitating cross-branch consistency, ensuring planning activities are strategically aligned and coordinated.
- Driving change management initiatives, embedding new processes into BAU operations to ensure long-term sustainability.
- Designing and implementing tracking and reporting mechanisms to monitor progress, manage risks, and communicate milestones to internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing consultancy contracts, ensuring compliance with Commonwealth procurement practices and delivering value for money.
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence strategic direction and operational delivery at a national level.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, prioritise objectives, and align projects with broader organisational goals.
- Proven experience in project management and strategic planning at the EL1 level or equivalent, ideally within a government or policy-driven environment.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across senior leadership and operational teams.
- Strong understanding of contract management and Commonwealth procurement frameworks, with a track record of managing external consultancies effectively.
What You'll Get in Return
- A 12-month opportunity to lead a flagship initiative within a nationally significant agency.
- Exposure to executive-level decision-making and strategic planning at the heart of government operations.
- A collaborative, purpose-driven work environment with flexible work arrangements and a commitment to professional development.
- The chance to make a tangible impact on national policy and operational frameworks.
