Civil Machine Operator

RPR Trades is looking for multiple Civil Operators including Excavator, Bobcat-Skid Steer, Loader, Moxy, Dump Truck and Roller and Grader, throughout Sydney, from Kensington, Ramsgate, St Leonards, Norwest, Castle Hill, Rouse Hill, Liverpool and Macquarie Park.

My clients have 2.5 Tonne, 5 Tonne, 8 Tonne, 13 Tonne, 25 Tonnes and 50 Tonne machines, as well as a variety of Graders, Dozers, Moxy's and Dumpys to perform a variety of tasks. All work is Civil including Detail Excavation, Final Trim and Grade or Pipe Laying and Trenching.

Any experience in Roads, Civil and Infrastructure is brilliant. Pay rate varies depending on Experience, from $36/hr to $50/hr, TFN with Overtime and Penalty rates plus Travel and Meal allowance after 9.5hour shift.

We have positions that range from 5 days to long term. Hours range from 6.50 am onsite to 3.30pm or 5.00pm to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday shifts when needed.

You must have:

Current Civil Operator Ticket - VOC and / or SOAWHITE CARD + PHOTO IDMUST have Australian working rights Full PPE including Hard Hat, Steel Cap Boots, Long Sleeve HiVis, Long Workwear Pants, Builders Gloves, Eye Protection and Ear ProtectionAustralian driver's license & reliable transport

Highly Favourable:

What you will be doing:

Mostly Civil projects Deep Hole and Open SpacesClearing Trees and ShrubberyComplex InfrastructureSpreading and Compacting material Carry out LevellingDigging TrenchesDigging Pits and FootingsDigging Foundations and Retaining WallsRoads, Open Spaces and PathwaysSome Demolition and Excavation projects for the right OperatorSometimes Loading Trucks and TrailersExcavate, Break, Drill, Level, Compact, Move, Load and Spread Earth, Rock, Rubble, Soil and other Material.

Excavator:

Building roads and footpathsOperate 2.5T–35T machines Detail, trim & grade, and bulk excavationDeep hole, trenching, and footing excavationFoundation and retaining wall workSpread, level, and compact materialDig pits, trenches, and structural footingsClear vegetation and prepare work zonesLoad/unload trucks and trailersPerform demolition tasks (if licensed)Operate attachments as requiredBreak, drill, compact, move, and spread earth, rock, rubble, and soil

Moxy (Articulated Dump Truck):

Safely haul materials across uneven and rough terrainLoad and unload loose material (soil, rock, spoil, sand)Maintain safe tipping practices in tight or inclined work zonesWork in coordination with excavators, loaders, and dozersConduct pre-starts and routine maintenance checksSupport bulk earthworks, drainage, and large-scale material movements

Dozer / Loader:

Push and spread bulk materials (soil, rock, gravel) across large work zonesAssist in levelling, grading, and shaping terrainStrip topsoil and assist in base preparationCreate access roads, pads, and drainage pathsMaintain material stockpiles and batter slopesWork around survey marks and GPS coordinates (if required)

Skid Steer / Pozi:

Conduct fine grading and finish work in tight or confined areasLoad and distribute small loads of materialsClear debris, brush, and spoil quicklyMaintain access paths and site cleanlinessAssist with backfilling, compacting, and trench supportOperate multiple attachments

Grader Operator:

Operate grader to cut, spread, and level earth, gravel, and other materials to fine tolerancesPerform rough and final trim grading for roads, pads, trenches, and drainage linesWork to laser, string line, and/or GPS (if equipped) to meet required levels and specificationsMaintain consistent grade across long distances (e.g., roadways, subdivisions, infrastructure corridors)Create and shape drainage swales, table drains, batters, and shouldersPrepare surfaces for sealing, concrete pours, or pavement layersOperate across various site conditions (soft, uneven, sloped, confined)Coordinate with roller, water cart, and loader operators to ensure proper compaction and finishConduct daily pre-starts and routine maintenance (blade checks, hydraulic inspection, etc.)Work closely with engineers, surveyors, and site supervisors to ensure grade accuracyMaintain awareness of underground services and environmental controlsAdjust blade angle, pitch, and height for different terrain and grading tasks

Water Cart Operator:

Operate water cart to suppress dust across active civil sitesFill, operate, and discharge water to designated areas (roads, trenches, stockpiles)Maintain safe speeds and awareness in high-traffic work zonesMonitor and manage water usage throughout the dayAssist in compaction processes by maintaining appropriate moisture levelsRefill tanks from designated water sources or standpipesConduct pre-start inspections and minor maintenance of the vehicleWork alongside roller and grader operators to aid material preparation

Roller Operator:

Operate smooth drum or padfoot roller for compaction of subgrade and base layersCompact soil, gravel, asphalt, and other materials to specWork in coordination with grader and water cart to maintain compaction moisture levelsConduct rolling patterns to meet density and compaction targetsPerform safe operation on inclines, edges, and around excavationsComplete and document pre-start safety checksAssist in ground preparation prior to paving or constructionIdentify and report any inconsistencies or soft spots in materials
