Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this role is to support and monitor the implementation of delegated authority and quality of service provided to children, their families and the community.
Responsibilities and Duties
- To provide professional, expert and sound Child Protection knowledge and advice to the Strong in Family & Culture team and other members of Delegated Authority processes
- To review information provided from Child Safety to complete proposals to formally request delegation authorisation
- To complete proposals for delegated authority and submit to CEO for endorsement
- To conduct safety and risk assessments on all connection plans following review of Child Safety information and where required, background and criminal history check
- To review draft case plans provided by Strong in Family & Culture, provide feedback if needing any additional information, and to endorse in consultation with the CEO
- To work in collaboration with Practice Development Manager for review of documentation for quality and review
- Mentoring and developing the practice skills and knowledge of Strong in Family & Culture staff
- Participating in, or conduction reviews of, complex or sensitive cases
- Build respectful and professional relationships with service users, agencies, partners, community, colleagues, and clients
- Maintain accurate quality record keeping
- Work always to advance the reputation of CQID and undertake additional relevant duties as required
- Participate and contribute to the organisation's compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS)
- At all times work within CQID's Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
- Other responsibilities as directed by the General Manager/Executive Officer
Qualifications and Experiences
Essential
- Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver's Licence
- Current Working with Children Check, 'Blue Card'
- Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Qualifications or knowledge related to Child Protection
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Services
- Experience at successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Understanding of Human Services Quality Framework and Quality Assurance Processes
Skills and Attributes
Essential
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage – [Note: Non-First Nations applicants will only be considered if no suitable First Nations candidates are attracted in the first round of applicants]
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office and client management system software
- Expert understanding of trauma and childhood development, in the context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Ability to work in a culturally safe and competent way
- Confident ability to assess and manage risk
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in varying settings such as with families, children, stakeholders and colleagues; both verbal and written
- Exceptional time management, organisation skills and ability to manage competing demands
- Abiity to record information accurately through client management systems
Desirable
- Knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999
