Position Summary:

The Integrated Adult (Acute Inpatient/Community) Psychiatry Service provides integrated clinical services to adult patients presenting with a broad range of mental illnesses and disorders in the acute inpatient unit and community mental health services. This position will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide psychiatric assessment, treatment, care planning and clinical oversight of allocated patients using harm-minimisation and recovery-based models of care.

This position will act as a senior clinician and clinical lead of the multidisciplinary team. This position will provide clinical leadership and management of the Integrated Adult Psychiatry Service to ensure delivery a high standard of patient care as well as drive service improvement, innovation, evaluation and research. There is capacity for the incumbent to work in other positions across the Mental Health and Homeless Health service on mutual agreement.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.
  • Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist's State Award, and a Medicare provider number.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in providing effective, high quality mental health services in a psychiatry setting, including sound knowledge of psychiatry encompassing biological, psychological, PD – Staff Specialist (Clinical Lead): Integrated Adult Psychiatry Service, November 2024 Page 5 of 5 social, cultural and spiritual domains and demonstrated commitment to person-centred, recovery-oriented, family/carer-inclusive and trauma-informed principles of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work in collaborative interprofessional contexts that include lived-experience professions to support the delivery of an effective, high quality mental health service.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication ability including capacity to communicate clearly, inclusively and respectfully.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of specialist trainees, junior medical officers, medical students and non-medical colleagues.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills that promote robust clinical governance processes and support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment
