A prominent Federal Government agency is seeking four experienced Principal Enterprise Architects to join their Architecture, Design and Security Branch. This is a unique opportunity to shape technology strategies and deliver enterprise-wide architecture solutions supporting transformation at a national scale. The successful Principal Enterprise Architects will contribute to the creation of future-state capabilities, define architectural roadmaps, and guide enterprise-wide system design decisions to meet strategic objectives. You'll work closely with business and technology stakeholders, supporting high-level initiatives across the Department's ICT environment. The Principal Enterprise Architects will be offered an initial 12-month contract with a 12-month extension, open to candidates in ACT, NSW, QLD, or VIC, with flexible hybrid work arrangements available.

The successful Principal Enterprise Architects will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Lead the development of capability strategies, architectural roadmaps, and high-level solution designs
  • Define and maintain architectural patterns, standards, and governance frameworks
  • Deliver security impact assessments, technical briefs, and architectural documentation
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to guide technology direction, data architecture, and system integration initiatives

To be successful, the Principal Enterprise Architects will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience applying TOGAF or equivalent frameworks to deliver enterprise and systems architecture in large-scale environments
  • Expertise in strategic architecture development including roadmaps, capability models, and solution design aligned to SFIA Levels 6–7
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and consultancy skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and guide architectural decisions
  • Solid understanding of information security principles, risk mitigation, and designing secure, compliant solutions across complex ICT landscapes
