Rocky Point Sugar Mill, a proud part of the local community and one of Queensland's longest-operating sugar mills, is currently seeking motivated and safety-focused individuals to join our team as Cush Person (Bagasse Cleaner) for the current crushing season.

What We Offer:
  • Approximately $2000 per week gross (nominal roster 48 hours / week, weather and maintenance dependent) inclusive of ordinary time, shift allowances and overtime
  • Superannuation and leave accruals
  • Seasonal shift work through till Christmas
About the Role:

As a Cush Person (Bagasse Cleaner), you'll be responsible for managing the flow, removal, and safe handling of bagasse—the fibrous by-product of sugarcane processing. This is a physically active and essential role that helps keep mill operations running smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage the movement and disposal of bagasse throughout the mill site
  • Clear blockages and perform basic cleaning of bagasse-handling systems
  • Take fiber-samples for laboratory testing
  • Conduct visual checks and report any equipment faults or safety issues
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure safe and continuous mill operations
  • Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols and environmental guidelines
Requirements:
  • Physically fit and capable of manual labour in a hot, dusty environment
  • Previous experience in an industrial or agricultural setting preferred
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions precisely
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays during the season
