Mechanical Engineer

About The Role
As part of our Engineering Design Team, you'll contribute to the ongoing development, improvement and support of the Barracuda Bucket product line. This role is hands-on, varied and offers the chance to see your designs through from concept to completion in a team committed to excellence
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, drafting and developing new excavator bucket concepts and detailed engineering drawings.
- Applying FEA and engineering calculations to back up your designs.
- Supporting the sales team with cost estimates and proposals.
- Working alongside our workshop team during bucket refurbishments, overhauls and laser scanning projects.
- Investigating in-field product performance and identifying opportunities to improve.
- Ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations and internal processes.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and clients to deliver world-class solutions
Essential
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a heavy manufacturing design role (preferably buckets, excavators or wheel loaders).
- Strong 2D & 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks highly regarded).
- Deep understanding of Australian Engineering Standards.
- Knowledge of welded structures, dynamically loaded structures and CAD principles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across sales, workshop and client teams.
Desirable
- Experience with excavator/wheel loader bucket design.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean or 5S principles.
- Project management qualifications or exposure to mine site operations.
- Exposure to companies in heavy industry manufacturing or OEM environments
