We have an incredible opportunity within our Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) High-Risk Team covering the Townsville District.
Passionate about transforming lives and creating positive change? We are looking for a new member of the team who wants to make a real difference to the lives of those impacted by DFV in our local communities.
This is an identified position for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates.
Take up a role that makes a difference
- This is a hands-on role that works with victim/survivors of DFV.
- You will provide case coordination for those at high and imminent risk of DFV.
- This includes support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients, providing immediate assistance, risk assessment, safety planning, referrals, and ongoing support.
- You will also provide cultural oversight and direction across DVNQ to ensure accountability and inform best practice when working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- You will work collaboratively with team members and other organisations to increase DFV understanding to build a consistent and timely response across the Townsville Region.

We're looking for someone with these key requirements:
- Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Holds a relevant degree (or has 5+ years' experience in a similar field)
- Brings strong DFV knowledge – including trauma-informed care, crisis response, risk assessment, and case management
- Understands relevant legislation (DFV Act 2012, Child Protection Act 1999) and frameworks
- Communicates confidently and culturally appropriately with First Nations peoples
- Has deep cultural insight into family structures, community connections, and protocols
- Applies intersectional and inclusive practice in all relationships
- Builds strong partnerships, shares knowledge, and supports sector capacity
- Shares information clearly, respectfully, and accessibly
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with excellent organisation and a positive, flexible attitude
- Practices emotional intelligence and self-reflection to support resilience and wellbeing in this vital work
Required screening:
- Current QLD C Class Driver's License which must remain current during the term of employment.
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card) which must remain current during the term of employment.
- Australia: National Police Check Clearance – at organisation expense.
