Novotel Surfers Paradise is located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, with excellent shopping, entertainment & nightlife areas all close by. The hotel features 408 well-appointed rooms, along with a variety of dining options including: The Restaurant, Blvd Cafe and Bar, pool bar and in-room dining.  We offer a relaxed, family friendly environment. For those wanting to unwind we offer a heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball & netball court, BBQ area, gym and kids' corner. For our conferencing & events guests we have 6 modern function rooms available, accommodating up to 500 delegates.

Job Description

About the role:

  • Full-Time, Part-time or Casual role available
  • You will be supporting the day-to-day operation of the kitchen through food preparation and dishwashing
  • Be responsible for providing the highest level of attention to all aspects of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the Kitchen, including but not limited to cutlery, crockery and commercial equipment
  • Recycling and removal of rubbish
  • Assisting Chefs with basic food preparation as required (eg peeling, chopping, portioning)
  • Unpack, store and organise food deliveries
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and food storage areas
  • Adhere to all sanitation and chemical use guidelines.
  • Follow and adhere to all HACCAP hygiene, Food Safety and WHS requirements.
Qualifications

You may have previous experience in a similar fast paced environment. Regardless of your level of experience, there are a few things that would make you shine in this role, which include:

  • Great energy and a "Find the YES" positive attitude.
  • Good time management skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to multi task will be essential to this role
  • Professional, well-groomed appearance, demonstrating pride in presentation.
  • Flexibility and ability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends and Public Holidays
  • Experience in a similar role is ideal
  • You might be a Commercial Cookery Student, looking to gain some practical experience
  • You hold valid working rights for Australia

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong work ethic and dependability.
  • Punctuality; being on time is very important.
  • Good attention to cleanliness.
  • Ability to follow safety rules.
  • Willingness to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Previous experience in a similar job is preferred but not required.
  • Training will be provided for the right candidates.
