About QATSICPP:
The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) is the peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child protection and youth justice for all children and young people in Queensland. QATSICPP works to influence policy, build sector capacity, and advocate for culturally strong, community-led systems that uphold the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families, and communities in the child protection system and for all children and young people in the youth justice system.
About the role:
The Project Officer (Workforce) supports the organisation in identifying and responding to immediate and future capability needs for the community-controlled sector. In consultation with the team and manager, this position will design and deliver tailored training solutions for adult learners in tertiary education or broker appropriate external offerings. Beyond training, the role will support the development of workforce initiatives that prepare the sector for expanded responsibilities. With a statewide focus, this role involves meaningful engagement with QATSICPP Member Organisations and will require regular travel. The role contributes to sector growth and sustainability through collaborative workforce planning and development.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Effectively engage and consult with QATSICPP staff, members, and other stakeholders to inform the development of practice initiatives, resources, and solutions.
- Lead out pieces of work with tertiary education providers so to support adult learners.
- Create engaging training resources and high-quality products in collaboration with the team that support capability development across multiple program areas, with management providing final oversight and approval.
- Deliver interactive training sessions, facilitate Communities of Practice, and lead workshops that build shared understanding and sector-wide expertise.
- Work within allocated project budgets, monitoring costs to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of statewide initiatives and events.
- Develop reports on the progress of projects and individual workplan requirements.
- Review and analyse data and evidence sourced from academic literature, operational insights, and corporate systems, to support management with informed perspectives and recommendations.
- Support the broader organisational vision by completing additional responsibilities as requested by the Manager, Practice and Workforce Development, Deputy CEO, Child Protection, and CEO.
Professional Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated expertise in systems and practices affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, including a deep understanding of cultural, community, and child protection frameworks.
- Experience in designing and leading successful tertiary education experiences for adult learners.
- Proven ability to design and facilitate engaging, interactive workshops that promote active learning and participant involvement, in collaboration with colleagues.
- Knowledge or the ability to obtain knowledge of the QLD Child Protection system.
- Strong working knowledge of adult learning principles and strategies for supporting workplace-based education and professional development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- History of successfully delivering high-quality projects under tight deadlines and minimal resources.
- Research and analytical capabilities, with the capacity to distil complex information, identify critical issues, and generate innovative and practical solutions.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work) and/or relevant work experience
- A valid Queensland Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or eligible to apply
- Drivers Licence
