Boasting over forty individually designed bedrooms spread over four floors, we have an eclectic mix of private and shared rooms, dorms and pods to suit every style of traveller.

Qualifications & experience

  • Previous Trade or Maintenance experience

Tasks & responsibilities

General Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform routine inspections of the property to identify and resolve issues.
  • Carry out minor repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and guests.
  • Replace light bulbs, fix leaking taps, unblock toilets/showers, and adjust doors or windows as needed.

Upkeep & Safety

  • Ensure all hostel facilities (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, common areas) are safe and operational.
  • Monitor and report any hazards, damage, or potential safety concerns.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including courtyards, signage, and entranceways.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain heating/cooling systems and hot water systems.
  • Schedule and perform routine checks to prevent breakdowns or wear and tear.

Support Cleaning & Housekeeping Teams

  • Assist with moving furniture, bunk beds, or equipment when required.
  • Help with waste management and rubbish removal when necessary.
  • Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are clean, secure, and in good condition.

Reporting & Communication

  • Keep records of completed work, maintenance logs, and inventory of tools/supplies.
  • Liaise with the hostel manager regarding larger repairs, budgets, or external contractors.
  • Communicate with team members in a friendly, professional manner.
