Community Development and Training Worker
5 days ago
Our History:
Women's Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSSCA), formerly the Alice Springs Women's Shelter, has been a cornerstone of support for women and children since 1975. Born from grassroots activism and community care, WoSSCA has grown from a volunteer-run centre into a leading specialist service committed to safety, empowerment, and cultural respect. As we continue to evolve and strengthen our services, we invite passionate, values-driven professionals to be part of our journey, helping shape a safer, more inclusive future for women and children across Central Australia.
Who We Are:
Women's Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSSCA) is a specialist Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Service that operates on a feminist framework. We work with women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence to support their safety needs and goals.
WoSSCA provides a range of specialist case management services which includes 24-hour Crisis Accommodation, Outreach, Court Support, Men's Behaviour Change Partner Contact, Co-responder functions and Community Development and Training.
We are committed to organisational sustainability by investing in our people, building our workforce and embedding a strong and inclusive workplace culture.
The Role:
We are now recruiting for a Community Development and Training Worker (CDT). This role will contribute to the coordination of Community Development and Training activities within WoSSCA and the broader Central Australian community.
This position will engage with WoSSCA management and staff as well as key organisations to develop strategies that drive family violence prevention in Central Australia. CDT will provide secretariat functions to the Central Australian Family Violence and Sexual Assault Network (CAFVSAN).
This position will be based in Alice Springs and provide services in Central Australia and selected remote communities.
What You'll Bring:
We're seeking a flexible professional with strong facilitation and writing skills, who can confidently navigate diverse tasks; from workshops and stakeholder engagement to content creation and reporting. You'll bring curiosity, adaptability, and a reflective approach to your work, with the ability to read a room, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively across sectors.
Who We're Looking For:
This position requires someone who can switch gears between facilitation, event coordination, and writing. We're looking for a collaborative individual who works through a feminist lens and brings cultural awareness to a diverse role. You'll need strong facilitation and listening skills, and a willingness to learn and adapt. The work ranges from delivering sensitive workshops to supporting events and engaging with Aboriginal and multicultural communities, so flexibility, respect and a commitment to safety and hope for change are essential.
What We Provide:
You will join a values driven organisation that is committed to shaping safer futures for women and children in central Australia. We invest in our people, and you will receive comprehensive training and professional development throughout your employment. You will have the opportunity to participate in training such as Fundamentals of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence, Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF), Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Trauma Informed Practice, Mandatory Reporting and much more.
The Benefits:
You will receive a competitive base salary with additional salary packaging benefits and 12% superannuation. In addition, we provide 15 days of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Leave and offer a Wellbeing Allowance.
You will also receive 6 weeks annual leave to explore Alice Springs and Central Australia.
If you're passionate about working with communities, and you bring a collaborative, prevention-focused ethos to your work, we'd love to hear from you.
