We're looking for a positive, personable, and experienced part time prep cook/kitchen all rounder to join us as a valued member of the Recess team. Someone who is willing to learn but also share their ideas and grow with the business. This will ideally be a long term role with opportunities to develop and progress. The role will initially consist mostly of bulk preparation for daily service and assembling menu items in a fast paced, customer focused environment.

We're open Mon-Fri, 7am-4pm and Sat & Sun, 8am-3pm. Must be available to work on a rotating roster, including 1 weekend shift/week. The role will ideally be 30 hours a week but this can be flexible for the right person.

Great for someone wanting a good work/life balance and a more relaxed kitchen environment in a long term role with opportunities to develop and progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for sandwich and our other products, including poaching chicken, prepping vegetables and sauces
  • Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Ensure food is labelled, dated and stored correctly
  • Assist with stock management, including inventory, receiving deliveries, rotation and stocktake
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team and FOH to ensure smooth service during peak hours
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications as directed by the Head Chef
  • Adhoc kitchen duties as assigned

  • Experience in prep and bulk cooking with a consistent output and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety practices and high standards of cleanliness
  • A customer-centric approach
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work well and communicate within a small team setting
  • Problem solving skills and be able to think outside the box
  • Fluent english, good communication and interpersonal skills
