Join the Power Market Trading team as an Analyst. You will work directly with experienced traders to help identify risks and opportunities in power markets, delivering insights that support trading success.
The Power Market Analyst will work closely with the Trading team to develop price models, analyze market fundamentals and deliver clear insights that inform trading strategies and support effective decision making.
What you'll be involved in:
- Building & maintaining energy price forecast models for the Australian, Japanese and NZ power markets.
- Perform analysis and market research of power market fundamentals. Identification of emerging trends and patterns.
- Work closely with trading team members, and communicate insights from your analysis to inform trading strategy.
- Develop trading decision support tools that streamline analysis and enhances the Mako market intelligence system.
What we need from you:
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Computer Science
- Genuine interest in, or prior experience with, commodity market trading - ideally with exposure to Power Markets in Australia, New Zealand or Japan.
- Experience in an energy trading company is beneficial, though recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
- Prior exposure to the Australian Electricity Market will be highly regarded
- Advanced coding skills - Python is essential
- Database experience including SQL, Postgres
- Knowledge of big data technologies and machine learning methods, including statistical modelling, time series analysis, forecasting, and data visualisation
- Location: Sydney or Brisbane
