Graduate Engineer – Civil Construction

Virtus Infrastructure is seeking a Graduate Engineer – Civil Construction to join our growing team. If you're looking to kick-start your engineering career with hands-on experience in infrastructure projects, this is your opportunity

About the Role

As a Graduate Engineer, you will support engineering and construction activities while developing your technical skills. You'll gain both on-site and office-based experience across multiple infrastructure projects, including civil works for MTS, closure work on TfNSW assets and services and drainage in the Western Harbour Tunnel project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Support & Design – Assist with design, drafting, and project planning
  • Site Supervision – Monitor and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Quality Assurance – Conduct inspections, audits, and maintain compliance documentation
  • Cost Tracking & Contract Admin – Manage variation claims, track costs, and liaise with contractors
  • Project Coordination – Attend meetings, prepare reports, and communicate with stakeholders
  • Digital Tools & Software – Use Bluebeam, Navisworks, Smartsheet, and Excel for project tracking

About You

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or related), Construction Management, or a similar field
  • Passion for construction and engineering with a strong problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments
  • Keen attention to detail and compliance standards

    - Ability to work independently and go the extra mile to ensure project success

    - Work hours align with site requirements, which may include 12-hour days to meet project milestones
  • Proficiency (or willingness to learn) in construction management software
