Distribution Design Engineer – Permanent Full Time / South Metro Depot

The role will be responsible for undertaking engineering assessments, investigation and designs associated with Western Power or Customer facilities connected to the Distribution Network.

This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. With the latest infrastructure and technology, the depot empowers all employees to create that perfect work-life balance whilst operating in an inclusive and diverse workplace.

Your Role in Action  

Produce and/or check designs and estimates for projects encompassing materials, labour, sub-contract services and costing for work associated with the Distribution Network. This will include the provision of specialist technical informationUndertaking engineering investigations and to participate in process improvementsProvide technical support across other work groupsIdentify opportunities for performance improvementDocument variations to procedures, programmes and processesComplete all documentation, ordering of materials, entering and maintaining information in applicable computer systemsUndertake contract administration to ensure contractor compliance to specification and identify non-conformances of contractors. This will include reviewing designs, work performance, works programs and preparing reportsRespond to customer correspondence and answer questions from the general public, various Govt Dept's and industry on quotes issued via DQM 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

Degree in Electrical EngineeringEligible for corporate membership of The Institution of Engineers, AustraliaAt least 4 – 6 years demonstrated engineering experience, preferably in an electrical utilityExperience in design managementSound knowledge of engineering standards, regulations and procedures preferably within a Distribution network environmentInteraction with others requires understanding, influencing and supporting people, through applyingtechnical knowledge or rational arguments
