Mater Misericordiae Hospitals QCH South Brisbane, Australia The University of Queensland Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year
About This Opportunity

The Children's Intensive Care Research Program (ChIRP), based at the Child Health Research Centre, is seeking an experienced and proactive Research Operations Manager to oversee the operational and financial delivery of high-impact paediatric intensive care research.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside an internationally recognised team of clinicians and researchers, contributing to projects that drive change in critical care practice. You will play a key role in supporting program delivery, contract negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and strategic process improvements in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead day-to-day program operations, ensuring project milestones are met, systems are efficient, and progress is effectively tracked across a portfolio of clinical research initiatives.

  • Manage funding contracts and research agreements, including negotiations with internal and external partners, while ensuring alignment with legal, ethical, and funding requirements.

  • Oversee program financials, including budget planning, expenditure tracking, financial forecasting, and reporting for both internal stakeholders and funding bodies.

  • Foster stakeholder relationships and team coordination, collaborating with researchers, partner organisations, and support teams to ensure smooth research delivery and strong governance.

This is a part-time (60%), fixed-term position through until December 2026 at HEW Level 8.

About You
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, delivery and management of research in a team environment, including monitoring and reporting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in contracts and contractual negotiations. Experience with research funding agreements would be an advantage.

  • An understanding and/or experience of Government funding schemes, especially those with industry linkages and cross-institutional collaborations.

  • Demonstrated strategic and operational planning and management skills including financial management, project management, intellectual property, risk management, and associated business reporting.

  • High level proficiency in the use of computer systems; particularly office applications, and an understanding of the University's financial management and research systems (or similar systems) would be an advantage.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to build both internal and external relationships and networks with key stakeholders.

  • Highly developed written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to write briefings and strategic reports.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
