Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Formulation Chemist, located in Laverton North, VIC. The Formulation Chemist will be responsible for developing and testing new formulations, conducting research and development (R&D) projects, ensuring quality control, and applying analytical skills in a laboratory setting. The role involves close collaboration with other departments to ensure product quality and consistency, maintaining documentation, and adhering to safety regulations.
Key responsibilities
• Develop new formulations for skin care and personal care products
• Reformulate and improve existing formulas
• Preparation of laboratory scale batches for the purpose of formulation and development,
customer samples and all testing.
• Assess cosmetic packaging for quality, functionality, and compatibility.
• Interpret customer requirements for new products, prepare samples and documentation.
• Liaise with raw material suppliers
• Implement product stability protocols. Follow up on stability results.
• Develop, write, and review product specifications, test sheets, master formula and manufacturing instructions, in conjunction with the QA manager and Production manager
• Responsible for up scaling of new formulations to full scale production
• Work collaboratively with production to solve manufacturing issues quickly
• Prepare regulatory documentation
• Comply with company procedures and policies, GMP and all safety regulations both in laboratory & manufacturing area
• Ability to work in a cross functional team-based culture
• Ability to deliver against project deadlines
Skills and experience
:
• Appropriate formulation and technical qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Science/Chemistry, Diploma of Personal Care Formulation)
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience within the personal care formulation industry.
• Experience in formulation and development of emulsions, suspensions, creams, lotions, washes etc
• Successful track record in product development with a strong "hands-on" experience
• Have a good understanding of GMP
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent computer literacy in Words and Excel
• An outgoing "can do" attitude, with flexible and collaborative approach to work
