About the role
The role of Workplace Health and Safety Manager is to support the relevant operations teams in managing site safety obligations and fostering a strong safety culture.
Duties include but not limited to
- Develop strong collaborative relationships across all stakeholder groups.
- Act as the central point for all safety queries and concerns
- Work with operations to develop and implement health and safety initiatives.
- Develop tools within the safety system to support operational implementation of safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Responsibility for training, communication, and implementation of new or updated initiatives within the safety system
- Manage on-site training compliance including document creation and control, training design and delivery, organising competency assessments, coordination of safety related external training and maintaining the training database.
- Coach and mentor Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs)
- Facilitate workplace risk assessments and the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures
- Implement WHS policies and procedures and play a role in reviewing and improving current WHS policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to operations on coordinating contractor management.
- Identify workplace hazards and implement controls.
- Manage Return-To-Work Coordinator
- Prepare reports as necessary.
- Conduct safety investigations and prepare reports.
Essential Criteria, Skills, and Experience
- 5 years' experience in a similar role
- Strong communication skills with various stakeholders including management, employees, and contractors.
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS, or relevant experience
- Certified Return-To-Work Coordinator or willingness to obtain.
- Drivers Licence
- Strong attention to detail
- Sound knowledge and understanding WHS legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
- Be flexible, adaptable, and diplomatic.
Desirable
- Prior experience using safety systems such as Donesafe
- Prior experience in agriculture or a food processing environment

What You Should Know About Our Operations
Our business is widespread, growing walnuts, almonds and bees in the Riverina Region in New South Wales, pecans in Moree and macadamias, avocados and mangoes in Bundaberg, Queensland.
Off the paddock, we operate nut processing and packing facilities in Leeton, Toowoomba and Bundaberg as well as fruit packing and processing in Bundaberg. In addition, our shared services teams (Finance, Sales, ESG, Safety and People & Culture) are located across all of our sites as well as the Brisbane, Melbourne and Griffith offices.
